It is hard to believe that we are already on the downward side of the month of May. This past weekend, on May long weekend, our first train of the year rolled down the tracks. Although it was a small group, they had a blast! Added bonus was Live music at the Detention Brewery during our visit. Thank you to the folks at Detention Brewery for always making sure our guests have an amazing experience.
The next train excursion on our schedule is June 13 and is our Historic Heisler Hotel Train Excursion, which is already SOLD OUT! We have a large group coming from Edmonton via Nagel Tours. So June is looking positive as well. Our July, Prairie Town Excursion which takes in three communities along our railroad is 75% sold, so if you are planning to take a ride on the rails with us this summer don't wait too long.
August brings us Alberta's Open Farm Days and our unique Open Farm Day event with the Explore Farm to Fork by Train on Saturday, August 15th. The theme this year is "Ranchlands and Pastoralists". Learn about agriculture from farmers who are raising crops and livestock in the fields and pastures along the tracks. We stop along the way to do field walks. This year we are starting the journey in Forestburg, travelling all the way to Kelsey, where the Cunninghams will have an fantastic farm equipment display for you to take in, then we head back towards Heisler, stopping along the way to explore the fields and learn from the farmers who work the land we are travelling through. Then onto Heisler, where we will enjoy a locally sourced lunch.
We take a break in the fall from our regularly scheduled train excursions, but that means there is opportunity to book the train for private charters. If you have a special milestone you are celebrating or just would like a unique way to gather friends and family consider booking a private charter with us. You can build your own train excursion, with the stops and experiences that work best for you and your travelling group. Our train capacity is 76.
Our volunteers and community partners have been working diligently over the winter and spring to get the train back into running order. And the progress they have made has been tremendous, as we are able to roll down the tracks once again. Thank you to our volunteers and community partners who have made this possible. And thank you to our patrons and guests who have come back to ride the train with us once more. We are looking forward to a busy train and station in 2026!
